Axle Gear leads the Black Knights, a group of Rocket Knights corrupted by power and greed.
He severely injured Mifune Sanjulo while attempting to steal an ancient book which held all of the secrets of the Rocket Knights.
In Rocket Knight Adventures, he is an assistant to Emperor Devilgus, leader of the Imperial Army. Axle hates Devilgus and is on the lookout for a chance to gain control.
In Sparkster: RKA 2, SEGA version, Axle aids King Gedol and kidnaps Princess Cherry.
Also, Axle hides his love for Sherry.
