Paper Mario Guide
Prologue

Goomba Village | Goomba Road | Toad Town | Shooting Star Summit

Goomba Village
Mingle around to everyone. After you fall from where the veranda used to be, you'll be with the grandfather. He'll help you along the path. Just shake every bush clean until you get the Hammer. Then hit every tree you see and shake every bush. You should do this in every area in the game.
Jr. Koopa will show up, but don't worry; he won't hurt you too badly. Don't use any items. Just hit him with either a jump or a hammer hit. Then walk off to the place where you fell and there'll be a yellow block you can destroy--just beyond it is a Heart Block, which will recover you from that battle with Jr. Koopa. Battle every goomba in sight, and use a Mushroom when your HP gets to 3 or 4. When at the village again, you can just break the yellow block and move on after taking a rest in the Toad House.

Put on the Power Jump badge ASAP!

Goomba Road
Battle as little as possible, and read the first sign you see with a mushroom on it. Hit the Heart Block before moving on, because a mini-boss will arise soon. When you hit the middle of the next scene, Red and Blue Goomba will show up. Use Power Jumps, Jumps, and Headbonks accordingly to defeat the duo. You'll want to tackle the blue one first. After they're defeated, they'll head home.
Save using the nearby Save Block after you head back for the Heart Block. Then move on, and you'll find King Goomba. Once in battle, use the Fire Flower immediately. That'll take care of Red and Blue Goomba. Then have Goombario Headbonk the Goomnut Tree. Use as many Power Jumps as possible, and just Headbonk with Goombario. King Goomba will soon give in. Once back at the walking screen, shake all the bushes until you find a switch, and hit it. A bridge will be formed from the castle. Go back, hit the Heart Block and Save Block, then cross the bridge. Be sure to explore the lower portion of the screen near east end of the road, and hit the block for a secret block to appear, yielding a Super Mushroom when hit. If you have around 90 Star Points, go back and battle enough goombas to raise you to level 2--heighten your HP to 15.

Toad Town
Buy enough Mushrooms so that you have four in the nearby shop. Also pick up three Honey Syrups and a Fire Flower.
Use the Save Block, then head up to Shooting Star Summit past the big star doors and where the castle used to be.

Shooting Star Summit
You'll look at a bottom path and wonder if it's any good, but it won't be very useful to you know. Just head up to the summit and let the spirits talk.
