Super Mario RPG Guide
To the Sky
Land's End | Belome Temple | Monstro Town | Bean Valley | Nimbus Land | Nimbus Castle | Barrel Volcano
Land's End
At the beginning, you'll find pot cannons. All you need to know is that you need to shoot out of them when they're all the way in the direction you want them to go. Avoid all battles. Then Mario will find himself being bombarded by geckits using the pot cannons along rocky hills--run along them, jumping from top to top. If you fall down, a pot cannon all the way at the bottom is usable. Keep going straightforward, dodging all enemies and the blue cloud that periodically shows up. Once you reach the desert, save, and hop in a whirlpool. Mario will run into lots of whirlpools, but he'll have to jump in after the shoguns before they pop up another one. Battling them is a good way to stop them, although it'll drain you a lot(lots of Maple Syrups are suggested to refuel Toadstool), the whirlpool you need to go in won't stop. Keep doing this until you reach Belome Temple.
Belome Temple
Immediately switch Bowser to Mallow. This should be fairly simple. Stroll through the ruins, and when you need to get your fortune told, hit the faces in this order: center, left, right. Move on and your old friend Belome--who would've guessed?!--is right there. Concentrate Mario on Belome with occasional Super Jumps, with Mallow and Peach healing and putting the hurt on the clones(go for Toadstool 2 first). Belome's attacks put you to sleep, so be sure to have donned Wake Up Pins. As easy as pie Mario and co. will stomp Belome.
Monstro Town
After that, a switch for the gate will appear. Hit it, and in the next room is a pipe to Monstro Town. Switch Mallow to Bowser, give everyone their normal accessories, and buy Bowser some equipment. Mario should stay a night here(the door all the way to the right) before talking to Monstermama and seeing her star. It isn't quite what you expected, so Sargeant Flutter(a strict para troopa) will arrive and agree to help you climb Land's End's cliff. Save. Go up the trampoline by which you came, and go all the way back until you reach a shaman on one. Give him 100 coins and he'll send you back to the surface. In the next scene, not using the whirlpools, the Sarge will send his eight troops to help you. Climb from shell to shell and you're on your way to Bean Valley.
Bean Valley
Hop down the right pipe when you arrive. Keep moving up, up, up, until you reach a save block. Save, hand out Trueform Pins to everyone, and move on. Fly Away will water a smilax. Hop to it and into battle. The first should be easy, just a hit from everyone in the party. Then there's two. Then there's three. Then Fly Away comes in with more and two smilaxes and a MEGA SMILAX grow! Give Mario and Bowser the task of smashing Mega Smilax to bits, and Toadstool should heal and slap. Mario's special attacks aren't very good when they stand up to Mega Smilax. Bowser might want to consider using Poison Gas if he has it every once in a while to help out Toadstool. When Mega Smilax sends everyone to sleep, it will almost never hit Peach, so do a Group Hug. Maple Syrups and Pick Me Ups will be the staple items, although you do want to Group Hug or Therapy when someone reaches below 60. A long and tiring battle will yield victory.
Nimbus Land
Buy up on weapons for Mario, Toadstool, and Geno, and armor for Mario and Toadstool(by the way, your party should have this order: Mario, Bowser, Toadstool). Stay a night at a free inn(I reccomend Monstro Town's), then go to Garro's house(the one at the very top of Nimbus Land). Look at the Mallow statue and soon you'll find yourself standing in Nimbus Castle.
Nimbus Castle
Once inside, take note that you should avoid battles everywhere. Valentina will take "Mariotta" to her statue line-up. When no one's around, walk out to the other room and save. As you walk into the other room, Valentina's loud voice will warn Mario and he'll go back to his stand. Dodo will come in and peck the statues, so jump when the time comes. Do this over and over to avoid a battle with Dodo. If you get pecked, restart, and you'll be right outside the room. When you're successful, the save room should have a Feather in the center of it. Save. Move on, avoid all battles if possible, then you should reach a hallway with three doors, the middle guarded by a Heavy Troopa. Explore the two on the side, talking to everyone, then once you have the key and have saved from the left one, fight the Heavy Troopa and barge in the door. Eggy will lie there, and the only way to get out of that room now is to talk to it and play with it. Eggy will crack after a few hits to reveal Birdo. Birdo will shoot multiple shots of eggs and single shots. Have everyone go into defense, get princess to heal them when the get below 90, and wait for four single-shot eggs to ricochet(multi-hits won't) on Birdo's nest. Bowser's Poison Gas works very nicely now, as it hits everything and does good damage to Birdo. When the eggs are destroyed, they damage Birdo. That results in a huge assault on the egg-spitting creature. Repeat and the battle will be long but not difficult.
The key Birdo gives you will lead you on to Valentina, Dodo, and Shy Away discussing the matters at hand. They'll run away, making Mario chase. In the next room you'll be able to save, and in the next there'll be a box. Hit below it for a yellow block. Jump on it and hop to the box, and Mario will be invincible. Now hit everyone you can, especially Dodo.
You'll fall to the beginning of Nimbus Land. Use the Warp Trampoline to leave and spend another night at that free inn. Back in Nimbus Land, when you arrive in the center of town, Queen Valentina will fight you. Dodo will take Bowser for a simple bout. Just keep hitting him with normal attacks and using Mid Mushrooms when they're needed. Dodo will lose and return to Valentina. Mario's Ultra Jumps will do nicely, although you need to save most FP for Toadstool's healing attacks.
After the battle, the King and Queen will be freed. Head outside, all the way to the right, and walk down at the edge of the cloud. You'll start walking off--keep going. Shy Away will give you some fertilizer. Now go back down those vines that took you to Nimbus Land, and back to the pipe where Mega Smilax was. Read the note Shy Away left, then climb back up the vines to the Warp Trampoline. Mario should now go to Rose Town and go all the way in the back. A house will be there. Talk to the man and give him what he wants. He'll plant the seed and fertilizer, and a huge stalk will grow. Climb up it, and hit the two boxes. Put the Lazy Shell weapon on Mario and armor on Toadstool.
Back in Nimbus Land, you can go to the hot springs now--it's the hole at the top. Take a dip, then walk off the edge of the scene like normal. Mario will land where the sixth star is--
Barrel Volcano
It's pretty straightforward. Once again you want to avoid all enemies. Ultra Jumps work well on Stumpet. Not long after you enter the volcano, Hinopio will greet you into his inn. Stay a night, buy Armor for Geno, and make sure you have four Pick Me Ups, seven Mid Mushrooms, and four Maple Syrups. Save, switch Bowser for Geno, and move on. Czar Dragon will be there, ready to fight. Give Geno a Water Bomb if you have it, if not, use normal attacks. When the dragon creates fire balls, use Mario's Ultra Jump. Soon Zombone will arise. Give Geno a Fright Bomb this time. After Zombone, go back to the inn, sleep a night, and save. Then go after the star.
The Axem Rangers will have stolen the star. Chase them, and Mario will wind up on a giant ax. Start out with Mario's Ultra Jump and Geno using Rock Candy. Aim for Axem Pink, then Green, then Yellow, then Black, and finally Red. Ultra Jump once or twice after the first time. When Axem Red reveals the Breaker Beam, be ready to heal a lot with Peach, use Geno to use Maple Syrups, and Mario to Ultra Jump.
