BBro's Resident Evil 0 Review
Resident Evil 0, the long awaited prequel to the infamous horror-thriller series, Resident Evil, has to be one of the best GameCube games available. RE0 adds a new twist - you control two characters at one time.
Gameplay: (95%)
Like in nearly all Resident Evil games, in RE0, you'll have to fight through hordes of zombies and other scary creatures using guns and other weapons. Weapons include basic ones like a handgun and a knife, but you'll acquire more powerful weapons, such as the shotgun and grenade launcher. You'll also have to solve puzzles to get through the game. Puzzles in this game range from obvious to difficult. The zombies in this game, depending on the difficulty, are numerous. Most zombies can be easily taken out, but other monsters, such as giant spiders and Hunters (greenish monster-like creatures) will be hard to take out. However, if you're killed from attacks, traps, etc., then it's game over for you.
Controls: (95%)
Controlling two characters is easier than it sounds. At first, you'll only be able to control Rebecca, but soon, you'll meet up with Billy. You and your partner must act together in order to survive. This includes fighting off enemies together and solving puzzles together. Some puzzles involve one character in a specific place, while the other operates a machine or something of the like that will help one character advance. Then, you'll meet up again.

Visuals: (100%)
Hands down, RE0 has to be one of the best games graphically currently out for the GCN. Characters are well animated, and their movements and facial expressions are realistic. Environments are extremely detailed, right down to rain, shadows, etc. Settings are dark, but they're dark mostly for shock value for like when a zombie emerges from the darkness. Cut scenes are gorgeous; the graphics are excellent and really help out with the story.
Sounds: (100%)
RE0 sports very eerie music that really creeps you out. Sometimes, the music will suddenly change when a major battle ensues, which will surprise you. Sound effects sound great too, from the footsteps of Rebecca and Billy to the sounds of glass shattering. The voice acting was done surprisingly well, too. Some of the past RE games had some subpar voice acting, but the voice actors in RE0 fit in great. No complaints here.
Replayability: (90%)
RE0 will last you a long time. The whole adventure itself should take you a while to beat, as the game is split into two disks. After you beat the game, though, you'll probably want to come back for more...
Final Words:
Old and new fans alike to the Resident Evil series should love this game. It truely is one of the best games for the GCN right now. RE0, however, may not be for everyone. Younger kids and those who get scared easily may want to avoid RE0 for now. If you are interested in RE0, don't pass up the opportunity to buy/rent it!
Score: (96%) A
