![]() ![]() Genre: Sports Year Released: 1985(NES). Also made an appearance in Animal Crossing (2002, Gamecube). Number of Players: 1-2 alternating Mario Cameo Appearance: Mario and Luigi appear as the golfers. Thought Mario Golf was the first golf game with Mario in it? Well, it turns out he's no amateur to the sport, and this game is his very first. Tee off with Mario and Luigi! Graphics: Well, not too great for NES compared to the later NES Open Tournament Golf, but the included course overview that shows where your ball goes is a nice feature. Play Control: Easy to control. This game uses the "power meter"-type control scheme that's still used in many golf games. Everything from switching clubs to putting is a snap. Sound: No music, and pretty simplistic sounds, but I guess they convey the "sounds" of golf. But overall, it looks like Mario and Luigi are playing at one of those snobby courses that doesn't allow you to clap or anything... =) Challenge: Needless to say, the challenge is pretty weak. There's no computer golfer, so the only thing really against you in 1P mode is wind, sand, and water. Whoopee. Playing against someone else is much, much better. The Bottom Line: Decent, but even though it's the only NES golf game I've played, NES Open Tournament looks to be better in every respect. Still, if you just want a simple golf game for your NES, this will suffice.
