The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Review

Genre: Adventure

Year Released: 1992(SNES)

Number of Players: 1

Mario Cameo Appearance: Some houses have a picture of Mario inside. Pull the picture and 5 rupees pop out(at least I think it's 5)!

Princess Zelda has been captured by the evil wizard Agahnim! Link, the legendary hero of the Zelda series, is the only one who can save her. Explore a huge world and battle tons of monsters in this classic overhead adventure game.

Graphics: The graphics and animation are very good for their time. The huge world and its many buildings and dungeons is simply awesome. This is all complimented by some decent-looking characters and some menacing enemies, especially the giant bosses.

Play Control: Easy does it when it comes to controls. Link's sword uses one button, and you can select an item to be used by the other from your inventory. Link can also charge up for a special 360 degree spin attack.

Sound: Ah, the classic Zelda theme. Though I'm mostly a Mario fan, this song is just too excellent. Also, the music in other places perfectly fits the place you're in. The dungeon music really has that sense of mystery to it.

Challenge: Just like all Zelda games, this is a huge one with its many places to explore and items to collect. Bosses are also excellent, as they often have a weak spot you have to attack in order to put 'em down for the count.

The Bottom Line: I recommend all Zelda games to adventure fans, and this is no exception. Easily a classic, that something like this could be accomplished back in the days of SNES is a tribute to this great system.
