Mario Party Review

Genre: Board Game

Year Released: 1999(N64)

Number of Players: 1-4 simultaneously

Mario has thrown a party, but then everyone's arguing about who the superstar of Mario Land is. Just then, Bowser invades the land. Mario and friends battle it out on 8 boards and in minigames to find out the true superstar of the land!

Graphics: The boards are full of color and also have some animated elements thrown in. The characters are easy to see, which is good in a heated minigame, but they're a little blocky, but that's just to keep the speed up with four players moving on the screen at once.

Play Control: It's easy to play the games and make selections, but a little complaint is the stick-rotating games. Some people rotate the stick with their palm and hurt their hand, but Nintendo will send you a protective glove in return for the game's proof of purchase, so it's not really a big deal.

Sound: Music and effects sound great. Characters cheer when they win and moan when they lose.

Challenge: Difficulty settings can be changed, but unless you set the computer difficulty on a harder level, the challenge isn't very big. The best challenge is playing against other people.

The Bottom Line: A great game for multiplayer fun. Bring it to a real party, and be sure to try its sequel, Mario Party 2, as well.
