![]() ![]() Year Released: 1996(N64) Number of Players: 1 What a big surprise-Bowser's up to his old, evil self again, and kidnaps the princess. Mario has to save her-this time in full 3D! Graphics: Ah, 3D graphics. Not as good as in some N64 games (Mario looks a little blocky) but who cares? OK, some of you might not, but repeat after me: It's the gameplay, not the graphics that really count. And this game has some fun gameplay. Play Control: Incredibly easy to control. The analog stick let's you make Mario move at various speeds. This adds whole new elements to gameplay, like when you have to tiptoe past a sleeping piranha plant to grab the red coin behind it. Sound: Mario's voice, the different sound effects, and the music are excellent. Challenge: Not the most challenging Mario game, but controlling the plumber in 3D adds a whole new twist. The Bottom Line: Definitely try this one. I don't think I have to say any more. A little disappointment is that Luigi isn't in the game. And don't believe any of those "get Luigi" codes out on the internet. You have been warned. Fun Facts This was Mario's first full 3D game. This was also the first game for the N64. In 1991, Miyamoto remarked, "Who knows what Mario might be like in the future. Maybe he'll wear metallic clothes!" Looks like the appearance of the Metal Cap proved his prediction was right!
