![]() ![]() Genre: Action Year Released: 1988 (NES). Also made an appearance in Super Mario All-Stars(1993, SNES) and Super Mario Advance(2001, Game Boy Advance). Number of Players: 1 One night, Mario has a strange dream. A bunch of little fairy people called Sub-Cons are being kidnapped by the evil Wart. Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad must now save the Sub-Cons from Wart and his minions before it's too late! Graphics: The graphics are much improved from the first SMB. The animations are great, and Luigi is finally taller than Mario. Play Control: The controls aren't any more complicated than SMB1, and that's a good thing. Unfortunately, this is a one-player game only. The four characters each have their own running speed and jumping height, as well as the Princess's ability to float in the air for a short time. Sound: The sounds and music are kind of weird, but still fun to listen to. Challenge: Not as challenging as SMB1 in my opinion, and again, not much replay value except playing the levels as each of the four characters. It's also disappointing to learn that all your hard work was just a dream. The Bottom Line: If you're a Mario fan or just want a different view on Mario games, try this one. Fun Facts This game was actually a Japanese game called "Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic" before Nintendo of America gave it a "Mario makeover!" It was released in Japan in 1992 under the name "Super Mario USA." This is the first Mario game in which Princess Toadstool and Toad are playable characters.
