![]() ![]() Genre: Puzzle Year Released: 1989(NES, Game Boy). Also made an appearance in Tetris & Dr. Mario(1994, SNES) Number of Players: 1-2 simultaneously Mario Cameo Appearance: Mario and Luigi appear in the GB version's 2-player mode, and Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, and Bowser appear in the NES version. The puzzler that started them all. If you got one of the old GBs back in the day, chances are you already have it! Drop blocks to complete rows in this addictive puzzler. Graphics: They're, well, blocky (Ha ha ha! I crack myself up). No real animations except blocks rotating, and the menus don't really have much detail. About the most detailed thing in the whole game is the title screen. Play Control: 'Tis very easy to control, unless your controller is broken. I guess that could cause some problems. Sound: The three song choices, though a little repetative, don't sound bad, and the sound effects are fine. Challenge: Sure, you can easily beat it on level 0 (you wimp!), but just try speeding the falling blocks up to level 9! Still feeling lucky? 2-player mode is challenging, provided you can find anyone who's actually interested in linking up to play an outdated game from 1989 with you... :p The Bottom Line: Sure, now they've got such complex games as Bust-a-Move, Puyo Puyo, and the infamous Tetris Attack, but it's still great to go back once in a while for a few rounds of the original.
