![]() ![]() Intro: Well, this was the weirdest Mario game I've ever played. Truth is, its not a Mario game. It was originally Doki Doki Panic. Find out more in my Super Mario Advance review. DDP was only released in Japan. Nintendo thought their SMB2 was too hard for us "Western" people. So, they got rights to DDP, changed some sprites around, sounds, music, and characters. Walah! New Mario game! Read on... Graphics: As always, I'll start off with the graphics of the game. The backrounds were totally different then Mario 1 and 3. You had plants, weird trees, and strange hills. This was a weird video game. But good graphics nonetheless. Sound/Music: Most people hate the main theme. Why? Most people thought the music was annoying. Yes, it is, but I like it. The sounds of the game were good. The level ending sound was great! Sound was good! I like the sounds and music of the game. Controls: Same as SMB1. A to jump, B to run, and control pad to control your guy/gal! Nothing different here. Gameplay: Here it's intresting. Each character had a different power. Luigi jumps higher than Mario. Mario is average. Toad picks up stuff fast, and runs at great speed; Princess Toadstool flies for a few seconds. What would have made the game shine more is a simultaneous 2 player option. Buy or Rent: Well, it's good for a borrow. But if you're a crazy hard core mario or NES fan, get the game like I did. Final Line: The Oddball is hated, but it's good for a rent. I like it. Try it out!
