Super Mario Bros. 3

Release: Feb. 15, 1990

Intro: This is the BEST Mario game of all time. Oh, sure, Super Mario World was fine, but this is the best platformer of all time. Why? Not only was it featured in a 1989 move called The Wizard, but it had great levels and wacky items!

Graphics: AWESOME! Well, what do you expect, it was the early 90s. They weren't cool back then, but compared to most games, this had great graphics. The best until Kirby's Adventure three years later. Mario is greatly shaped. The enemies are well made, what could I say? They were da bomb!

Sounds/Music: Just like SMB, this had some tunes that would get stuck in our head forever. They weren't annoying midis this time. They were good midis. The sound effects, such as the tunnel's "tiko tiko tiko" sound and the coin sound, all rocked.

Gameplay/Controls: Same as SMB and SMB2. "A" to jump, "B" to run fast and shoot fireballs. Now here's the reason this game was so great. The graphics were fine, and the sounds were awesome, but the items were the best! Just face it! You had the classic 1-up and power up mushrooms and the fireball, with the new ones such as the Super Leaf, which made you fly, the P-Wing (which is like the Super Leaf, but made you fly as long as you want or until time ran out). The Hammer Bros. Suit lets you dress up as a hammer bro a shoot out hammers. But the goshly goshful best dang item is only found in the 5th world. It is Kuribo's Shoe. It's a shoe that enabled you to kill almost anything!

Story: OK, just like SMB. Princess Peach--I mean Toadstool, is kidnapped once again by Bowser.

Buy/Rent: You probably have it if you have an NES. If you don't, go down to your nearest Funco Land and buy it. They'll have at least five copies.

Challenge: When you reach World 5 or 6, it will get harder. But Koopa's castle isn't that hard to beat.

Bottom Line: The best platformer of all time...
