Super Mario Land

Console: Game Boy
Release Date: 1989
Players: 1

Intro: This is the game that was launched with the Game Boy. For you new school gamers that don't remember playing games in the early 90's, it was the original old big gray Gameboy. No color, bad graphics, but awsome Game play. Selection of games varied over the number of NES games. Back on topic, this game was awesome. Read on and find out more.

Graphics: Back to the NES Mario. The same character design for SMB1. Except he's gray. Hey, you could choose up to four different types of gray! Well, everything was blocky and smudgy looking. Nothing new. Just old Mario design from SMB, just in gray.

Music/Sounds: This where it gets cool but annoying. When, finally midis become better in the bigger console, little Atari bleeps and bloops come here. That's the annoying part. I liked the music though. It rocked.

Story: Oh no! A Princess Toadstool look-alike named Daisy has been kidnapped by Tatanga (a weird, messed up, drugged up, deformed looking alien in a space ship)! You must go to Sarasaland and rescue her! Just a revised version of the "average" Mario Story.

Replayabillity: Not much here.

Control: Easy! The normal Mario controls of A and B! But remember why this is so easy: fewer buttons. Yup. Game Boy Advance has a bunch of buttons comapred to the orignal Gameboy. Trust me. It's easy to control Mario in this game.

Buy or Rent: Finally, a game I reviewed where you could rent, and not go to Funcoland! Well, at my Blockbuster, anyways. This game is a definite buy for any Mario and GB fan.

Bottom Line: Buy it. It's Mario's original and first adventure on the Game Boy. It's also a Mario game with new characters!
