Tetris

Year Released: 1989, re-released 1994
Players: NES- 1
GB: 2 sim.
SNES: 2 sim.

Genre: Puzzle

Intro: Yup! You know Tetris. If you don't? Then you must've been in hibernation or something because it's the puzzle game that gave birth to the puzzle genre as we know it. It's like the "Mario" if puzzles. This game has spawned many spin offs, copies, and sequels. But there will be always one true Tetris game...the original. (This review will be for the NES version, for I haven't played the SNES version, and haven't played the GB version in ages.)

Graphics: Well...it's just colorful blocks. That's it! Heh! The title screen, though, has the Soviet-ahem, or now Russian castle. The blocks at least are colorful, and you know where it will land.

Sound/Music: There are 3 songs you could listen to while playing. I don't listen to choice 1 and 3 much, but I love 2. It sounds like a drunk Russian party. You could also turn off the music if you want the music off, theres that option too.

Gameplay: There are Game A and Game B. Game A lets you set how fast you want it to go and will start off without "Tetrads" on the floor. Game B consists of the How Fast/Level Select also, and now Height. Height is, well...it starts off with some blocks already on the floor. Sadly, the NES version has no Second player option. ;_;

Control: Use the D Pad to move your tetrad blocks back and forth, and A to switch the angle of the Tetrad.

Story: N/A There is none.

Mario Cameo: If you beat Level 9 with height of 5 on Game B, Mario, Luigi, DK,Bowser and Peach will be happy, along with Link, Kid Icarus and Samus as you input your name into the high scores.

Addiction Meter: low[000000000~)high (~ is indication of how high the addiction meter is.) This catagory is only used in my puzzle reviews.

Wasuki's Fact: There was another version of Tetris for the NES, made by Tengen, which made those cool black unliscenced carts. Tengen Tetris is rare because it was pulled off shelves after a week or two cause of a lawsuit. Tengen didn't get Nintendo's permission to make Tetris.

Buy/Borrow/Run? It depends. If you're a puzzle addict and use your mind like me and my cousin, you like it. If you're like my Dad, who hates puzzle games, you won't.

Final Word: The mother of puzzle games. Give it a try!
