Super Mario Planet Review

Founded: February 22, 2003

Subject: Super Mario Brothers

URL: http://www.smplanet.vze.com

Layout and Look: A nice dark red for the navigation bar and a black background. The site uses iframes (basically a window within a window) and makes it look incredibly neat. The links both on the navigation bar and in the main frame are a bit hard to read, but it shouldn't be a serious problem where you'll want to Ctrl+A ("Select All"). Also, the Times New Roman font is a bit plain for my taste, but again, it's nothing big.

Getting Around: The navigation bar stays with you the whole time. There are so many links on that bar that you won't be lost in a maze site.

Loading Time: Great!! Even some of the fan stuff is slow-compy-friendly. I was watching an animated comic (GIF format!!) unfold before my eye in timely manner. The whole site makes you feel like you actually have a half-decent internet service provider. ;) Oh, yeah, iframes prevent pop-ups from appearing on all pages, setting the pace for loading a lot quicker.

Variety: I can't say there's much innovation on this site. Where this site really shines is its fan support--amazing. The fans here are just like me, and I enjoy what they make.
I'm half-tempted to call this site a clone of MB Gold with more fan support, but I can't call it that for the reason that I don't have indifference to MB Gold (that is, I own MB Gold and am thusly have a somewhat distorted view of it).

Usefulness: Read the rants, you might find an argument you're interested in. Or you could send in rants to get your point across. I guess it's not all that useful, but it is definetely one site I'm going to check out regularly. Fans enjoy the company of other fans.

Anything Else?: Chats.

The Bottom Line: This is one of those sites that you aspire to get yourself put on as a joyful 11-year-old newbie to the internet. Everything is here, folks. Sure, TMK might have that Mariopedia and SMBHQ has those great comics, but this really gets on the same level as the fans. It's tough to explain.

GO! NOW!
