![]() ![]() Year Released: 1990 (NES) Number of Players: 1 Shredder has kidnapped newswoman April O'neil, so the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles decide to go into action. Raised by a martial artist rat, these guys can kick shell. Graphics: Fair. Nothing has a definite outline, which can make gameplay a bit weird. Nevertheless, this game has graphics that will suffice. Oh yeah, the enemies are really weird. Play Control: Pretty good. You can attack and jump. Nothing is too difficult. Sound: The music fits the stages. Not bad, not good. Challenge: It's hard. Having a Game Genie helps a LOT, but then it gets too easy. You have four turtles, each with only one life. Once they're all gone, you can start from the beginning of the level (if you have a continue), which can mean serious backtracking. Not to mention how slow the turtles are as compared to the enemies. Game Play: Normal side-scrolling as opposed to the other Ninja Turtles game which give an isometric view. Everyone has a different weapon, each ranging in speed, range, and strength. This keeps the gameplay nice and fresh. At first the turtles' sluggishness may be annoying, but one gets used to it. The bosses are easy to learn, but definetly not so easy to beat--they tower over the turltes in almost every respect. Since the enemies can attack the turtles for so much more than they can attack the enemy, you may find that a Game Genie makes it much more fun. I'm not saying it's anywhere near required to have a good time, though. Oh, yeah, don't let your friend play, they won't be able to stop. The Bottom Line: It's a good game, and I only paid $2.99. I'm happy.
