Get ready for the the platforming ride of your live as you experience Conker's Bad Fur Day, for the Nintendo 64. The game that broke new ground for Nintendo, and Rare itself, with it's over-the-top gore and outrageously vulgar humor.
-Gameplay- 9/10
Okay, so the story is, on his 21st birthday bash, Conker gets drunk, gets lost, and wakes up with a hangover the next day. The problem? He needs to find his way home. And to make things problematic, the great Panther King needs a squirrel of his stature to balance the table in his hideout so he can enjoy a nice glass of milk. The basic gameplay consists of Conker going through many adventures, fighting off enemies with the use of his frying pan, and help from his "helicoptery tail thing." Interesting? Yes. But it's much more then that. Let me start by telling you that this is not for the casual platforming gamer. First off, Rare steps aside from the usual "collect items, collect more items, and to top it off, collect more items". Instead, you pretty much have nothing to collect, except for chocolate, which increases your health, and the occasional wad of cash, which is never to hard to find. <br> The biggest part of games uniqueness is the humor. Let me tell you, this is the funniest game you will ever play. I'm not going to spoil anything, but the Great Mighty Poo is just.. awesome. If you thought Earthworm Jim, is funny, well, this just blows it away. Not to say that the humor is for everyone. It seems as if the first half of the game pretty much tries to shock you with it's cursing, gross-out and raunchy humor, (which is funny, deny it or not) and the second half is filled with parody after parody, with themes such as saving private ryan, the Matrix, and more. However, all that aside, that really isn't the core and definition of platforming gameplay. And that brings me to what it really is about: Solving puzzles, and bashing enemies. The puzzles are very creative and done at the right time and moments, and fitting well with the story. Everything is well thought out, and with all the humor, really just the most fun gaming experience out there.
-Graphics- 10/10
Wow. The graphics are just unbelievable. The facial expressions, and detail. The cartoonish backgrounds, and atmousphere. Everything is so crisp, and both magical and dark when needed to be. I cannot stress enough how great the graphics are. They are the best ever on the N64, I'll tell you that.
-Sound- 10/10
Another part of the game that rises high above any other. The sound effects match everything and are very clear, ranging from the frying pan clatter, eerie night sounds, shotgun blasts, machine gun fire. But the biggest reason why this get's such a high score is because of the voice acting. Superb. There is a large amount of voices and all of them are unique and cool. Another amazing point is just the fact that there are just sooo many voices in a cartridge format! geez!
-Music- 8/10
The music, is cartoony, and also spooky and dark when needed, and fits the environment well.
-Replay value- 8.5/10
You'll find yourself going back to this over and over again, to play the many different multi-player modes, or to replay the various funny scenes, since there is a "chapter selection" feature
---9.1/10 (round nearest .5)---
-Overall- 9.0/10
This is a must have for the Nintendo 64. Easily in the top 5 games.
