There are some interesting places in which you can use icons. EzBoard lets you have personal photos, and other board systems let you have their own variation on avatars. Here are some you might consider:

Some people like to make their own images. I took a picture of someone from an anime I like and stuck this cap from Mario:

...on it. It not only made the picture look silly, but identified me as a fan of both.

Then there are places where you might need smaller pictures(IE: EzBoard's personal icon). Here's one you can use:
