Maybe the lack of aging is because the mushroom kingdom is situated snugly against our own universe. Nobody said the universe was certainly infinite-in fact , it's thought that the supposed Big Bang occurred when two universes , contained within a membrane of space-time , collided with one another , and caused ours to form. May sound like Star Wars , or Star Trek techno-babble , but trust me , it's not-this theory is being introduced into the scientific community with growing acceptance. The universe containing the Mushroom kingdom does not , in many ways , coincide with our basic laws of phsyics-remember , our laws of physics are not multi-versal (applying to more than one universe). That means , sequences of time changes , the continuum may be reverse in operation-or the planet of the mushroom kingdom (obviously in SMB:Movie , the mushroom kingdom was on a planet) may have some regenerative ability-perhaps something in the air or something it's sun emits. About the unique human qualities to the supposed animals there-Bowser prolly doesn't have a degree in biology and the manipulation of deoxyribonucleic acids , but that doesn't mean his minions don't. They could be geneticists that are human working for Bowser-Heck , Bowser could be a spinoff from one of their creations. Just imagine-on a neigbhoring planet , the humans could have been working on an expierement to revolutionize the intelligence of reptiles. WHAM! That's done , so they continue on to strength , size, agility , and soon it spirals out of control , and bowser is born. Not just bowser , but a mate-perhaps a Mrs. Bowser. they continue on , reproducing Lemmy , Larry , Ludwig and the others-the genetecists fall under his control , and continue to crank out Koopas and the others that inhabit the Mushroom Kingdom. That would explain Bowser's origins. Now , Boswer decides to conquer some planets-yahoo , he's excited because there's this puny little planet just a few million galactic blocks away. So he hops into his little spaceship , or starship , or pod-whatever u'd like to call it-and takes his scientists with him. First , though , he sends all the necessary equipment so they can create more monsters of destruction. Then comes the populations-Bowser's minions. They create more and more evil creatures with low brain capacity. Soon , they develop a way to cause an organism's cells to revert back to primitive stages in their evolution-so he captures some people indigenous to the mushroom kingdom and he has more. This isn't so alien-Koopa in SMB:the movie , was able to change toad into a goomba. All this takes place in a bubble of space-time fabric billions of times larger than our known and documented space-where the laws of physics are different from our own. And aging isn't a problem.
