1-Up Mushroom: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Super Mario Bros.2(Western), Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Advance
An item some would call ancient. This item gave Mario an extra life, obviously.

3-Up Moon: Super Mario World
Just the opposite here. As Neclected as the Heart from Super Mario Land, this gave a player 3 extra lives. Once you collected it, you couldn't find it in that particular stage until you restarted the game.

? Block: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Super Mario Bros. 3
Also known as the Prize Block. When Mario jumps up and hits it with his fist, an item comes out or a coin is collected.

A

Able Juice: Super Mario RPG
Cures one ally o' anythin'. You can by it for 4 coins. Obviously, you can only use it in battle.

Ace Coin: Super Mario Advance
Collect five of these in every level to get a 100% rating.

Anchor: Super Mario Bros. 3
This was used to stop the Koopalings' flying ships from going all over the map.

Attack FX B: Paper Mario
Changes the sound effects when Mario attacks something. Not really useful, but still fun.

B

Banana Bunch: Mario Kart 64
You get a bunch of 5 bananas. You can place them on the track or throw them ahead of you to cause other racers to spin out.

Banana Peel: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
You get a banana peel which you can place on the track or throw ahead of you to make other racers spin out of control.

Bad Mushroom: Super Mario RPG
You can buy this for 30 coins. It's only usable in battle. The item causes 50 damage and poisons the enemy. Buy it in Seaside Town before you confront Yaridovich.

Barter Box: Mario Party 3
Use this to trade all your items for an opponent's items.

Bell: Super Mario Land 2
Ring this at halfway to continue from that point if Mario dies, or if rung at the end o' a stage to enter a bonus stage.

Berry: Super Mario World
These come in red, pink, and green. I 10 Red Berries will give you a Super Mushroom, 2 Pink Berries will make a cloud that you chase after to get all the coins it drops(if you do, you get a 1-Up Mushroom), and every Green Berry gives you 10 extra seconds o' game time. The Green Berries are only found in the last stage o' the game, where it is needed most(sorta like Squawks the Parrot in DKC).

Blue Coin: Super Mario 64
These give you five more coins, and heal your power meter by 5 too.

Bomb: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western), Super Mario Advance
You picked these up like normal veggies. Definetly not eatable like them, though. When the Bomb is about to blow up, it flashes rapidly like a Bob-Omb.

Bonus Block: Super Mario World
I sat at the computer, staring at the monitor... "What is a 'Bonus Block'???" I remarked. I ran upstairs... reached for those manuals... then when I looked at the SMW manual I realized just how dumb I'd been! Don't forget this one, it could be on a quiz.
When you collect 30 or more coins in a course, this will give you a 1-Up Mushroom(or as refered to in the manual as an "extra Mario mushroom") when you bonk it.

Boo: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Use this to steal an item from another player.

Boo Bell: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Get in an item mini game. Ring it to bring Boo to you so you can steal coins or a star from another player.

Boo Repellant: Mario Party 3
If you think someone's going to have Boo steal coins or a star from you, use this to protect you.

Boots: Paper Mario
Allow you to use jump attacks. Can be upgraded.

Bowser Bomb: Mario Party 2
Get in an item mini game. Baby Bowser uses it to transform into adult Bowser. He then hits 3 dice blocks, moves that number of spaces, and steals all coins from every player he passes.

Bowser Suit: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Get in an item mini game. Use it and hit the dice block. You will steal 20 coins from every player you pass.

Bowser Phone: Mario Party 3
Use this to call Bowser and send him to one of your opponents so he can steal their coins.

Bracer: Super Mario RPG
Bracer affects one ally and costs 2 Frog Coins. It doubles defense!

Bright Card: Super Mario RPG
You can't buy this item. Get it from Knife Guy after you've beat 'im. Just go back into Booster's Tower and along the path up to the top you'll see him. Win the balloon game 12 times(every loss deducts one win from your overall score). It allows you to get into Grate Guy's Casino.

Bull Pot: Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
Turns Wario into Bull Wario.

Cape Feather: Super Mario World
Collect this to change into Caped Mario/Luigi.

Carbo Cookie: Super Mario RPG
Mario can't buy a Carbo Cookie, but trade the Shiny Stone to the girl in the Moleville Shop to get one. Give it to the mole on the bucket in the far right corner o' Moleville. She'll hop off, and you'll be able to run the Midas River. The first time you do this there will be Frog Coins in the waterfall.

Carrot: Super Mario Land 2
Transforms Mario into Bunny Mario. Float by jumping, then letting go and holding A, or to float slower, press A rapidly.

Casino Box: Mario Party
At the end of the game, you can time it so you get twice the amount of coins collected, but if you mess up, you only get half the amount.

Cellular Shopper: Mario Party 3
If you need to buy an item, but are too far away from the shop, use this to make the shop come to you.

Cherry: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western)
Collect seven o' these in a stage to make a Starman appear, which will make you invincible if you touch it.

Close Call: Paper Mario
When Mario's HP is low, enemies sometimes fail to attack. Requires 1 BP.

Coin(1): Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Super Mario Land, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Get 100 and gain a life.

Coin(2): Super Mario Bros. 2(Western), Super Mario Advance
Collect these by picking plants in Sub-Con. For every Coin you get, you have a chance at the slots at the end o' the stage.

Coin(3): Super Mario Land 2
With 30, 50, 100, 500, or 999 coins you can play a special slots game near the middle o' the main map screen.

Coin(4): Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, Wario Land II, Wario Land 3
Get these just to finish the game rich.

Coin(5): Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario
Buy things with these.

Coins: Super Mario Kart
Use this to gain 2 coins. The more coins you have, the faster your kart's top speed is.

Crystalline: Super Mario RPG
This affects all in your party, and it can be bought for five Frog Coins. It doubles defense!

D

Dizzy Attack: Paper Mario
Lets you confuse and paralyze enemies at will when you wear it. Requires 2 BP.

Dizzy Dial: Paper Mario
Paralyzes and confuses enemies so they can't attack.

Dragon Pot: Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
Turns Wario into Dragon Wario.

Dried Pasta: Paper Mario
Buy it at Dry Dry Outpost. Restores 3 HP and 2 FP.

Dried Shroom: Paper Mario
Buy it at Dry Dry Outpost. Restores 1 HP.

Dueling Glove: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 15 coins. You can choose a character to play a duel mini game with. The winner gets coins.

Dusty Hammer: Paper Mario
Throw it at enemies to damage them.

E

Earlier Times: Super Mario RPG
It can be bought for 15 Frog Coins, and will never be used up. It makes the battle start all over again, recovering even your items, your HP, and FP--your foe's, too.

Egg(1): Super Mario World
Anything could be hidden in this from a baby yoshi to a weird cloud.

Egg(2): Paper Mario
Find it in the bushes near the Dry Dry Desert Train Station. Restores 5 HP.

Egg(3): Super Smash Bros., Super Mario Advance
Items are hidden inside these.

Elixer: Super Mario RPG
This works on everyone, and it heals them 80 HP. You can only get it in Tadpole Pond, where the prices vary on the series o' your card.

Energizer: Super Mario RPG
Costs two Frog Coins. It makes one person's defense larger by %50.

Event Block: Mario Party
Appears at random on the board after you buy it. Boo, Bowser, or Koopa Troopa can appear and cause different things to happen to the players.

F

Fake Item: Mario Kart 64
Looks like a regular item box, but when someone runs into it, they get blown into the air and lose all their speed.

Feather: Super Mario Kart
Allows you to jump a short distance. Perfect for cutting corners or taking a shortcut.

Fire Bomb: Super Mario RPG
This does 120 damage on every enemy. It doesn't work well, though, on baddies that are resistant to fire. It costs 200 coins.

Fire Flower(1): Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Land 2
When you collect this item, Mario turns into Fire Mario and can shoot fireballs.

Fire Flower(2): Paper Mario
Use this item to do 3 damage to every enemy on the screen.

Fireworks: Super Mario RPG
500 coins is how much you'll shell out for this item. Either trade this for a Shiny Stone or keep it for the end o' the game for a spectacular show.
0-2: Mushroom
3-4: Flower
5 and on: Star

Flower: Super Mario Land
If Mario gets a Flower, he becomes Superball Mario who can throw superballs at a 90° angle.

Flower Box: Super Mario RPG
Can only be found, it isn't sold. It increases your FP maximum by 3.

Flower Jar: Super Mario RPG
Can only be found either. It increases your FP max by 5.

Flower Tab: Super Mario RPG
Yep, you guessed it. This one can't be bought either. It increases your FP max by 1.

FP Plus: Paper Mario
Increases you FP max. by 5. Requires 3 BP.

Freshen Up: Super Mario RPG
Affects you and your teammates. 50 coins. Cures everythin' 'cept HP.

Frog Coin: Super Mario RPG
These are rare green-colored coins. Some things can only be gotten with these.

Fright Bomb: Super Mario RPG
Affects all foes. 100 coins. Scares them and does 100 damage.

Fright Jar: Paper Mario
A scary ghost pops out which scares some of the enemies away.

Froggie Drink: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 30 HP on everyone in your party. Only available in Tadpole Pond. Different prices for different cards.

Garlic: Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
Turns Wario into Bull Wario.

Golden Mushroom: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 20 coins. It allows you to hit 3 dice blocks instead of one, for a possible total of 30 spaces.

Goodie Bag: Super Mario RPG
Can only be found, and may only be used in battle(you get a coin each time it's used). Sell it for 500 coins.

Green Shell: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Throw it or shoot it and it travels in a straight line, bouncing off objects. In Super Mario Kart, it can be placed on the track and in Mario Kart 64 and MKSC, it can be shot backwards. When it hits someone, they crash and lose all their speed(Mario Kart), or get damaged(SSB).

H

Hammer: Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario RPG, Super Smash Bros., Paper Mario
In Donkey Kong, used to destroy barrels and enemies that Donkey Kong throws at you. In Super Mario Bros. 3, used to break rocks on the map to open new paths. In SMRPG, it's the first item to equip Mario. Press A right before it hits for more damage. In Super Smash Bros., hit people with it to build up their damage and defeat them quickly. In Paper Mario, it's a useful item as well as a weapon that can be upgraded.

Hammer Brothers Suit: Super Mario Bros. 3
A suit that allows you to throw hammers which damage anything. When you crouch, you are also resistant to fire.

Hammer Throw: Paper Mario
Lets you throw your hammer at any enemy to do 2 damage. Requires 2 FP and 2 BP.

Heart Radish: Super Mario Advance
Pick one of these to restore a heart to your life meter.

Heavy Zed: Super Mario Land 2
Only in the boss stage o' the forest. Ride on these guys to travel safely to Big Bird's place.

Honey Syrup(1): Super Mario RPG
10 coins. Recovers 10 FP.

Honey Syrup(2): Paper Mario
Recovers 5 FP.

HP Plus: Paper Mario
Increases your max. HP by 5. Requires 3 BP.

I

Ice Bomb: Super Mario RPG
Does 140 damage to every opponent. 250 coins.

Item Bag: Mario Party 3
Buy them from Bowser or Toad. Each contains three items.

Jet Pot: Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
Turns Wario into Jet Wario.

K

Kerokero Cola: Super Mario RPG
Unlike other items, it doesn't get marked half down when you sell it. For 200 coins(and 150 in the Marrymore Hotel Suite), it recovers all your friends' HP and FP.

Koopa Card: Mario Party 3
Allows you to withdraw all the coins from the bank when you pass it.

Koopa Leaf: Paper Mario
Find it in the bushes in Koopa Town. Recovers 3 FP.

L

Lamb's Lure: Super Mario RPG
After Toadstool uses the Mystery Egg with her B'tub Ring on ten times, this will appear. It will turn an enemy into a sheep and then the sheep will run away, if it works.

Lucky Box: Mario Party
At the end of the game, you gain 10% interest on the coins you collected.

Lucky Charm: Mario Party 3
Use this to call Game Guy over to one of your opponents to play a minigame. If they lose, they lose all their coins.

Lucky Jewel: Super Mario RPG
When used, you play the Lucky game. Can only be used 100 times.

Lucky Lamp: Mario Party 3
Use this to call Mushroom Jeanie over to change the star's location.

Lucky Star: Paper Mario
A gift from the kidnapped Princess Peach. Lets you use the action command in battle.

M

Magic Lamp: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 30 coins. Use it to summon a genie, who takes you straight to the star so you can buy it.

Magical Potion: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western)
You pick this up like a normal item. Throw it to make a door, and if you make it in the right place when you go in you'll see a Mushroom.

Maple Syrup: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 40 FP.

Marine Pop(Submarine): Super Mario Land
Mario rides in a submarine in 2-3.

Max Mushroom: Super Mario RPG
Recovers all HP for one person.

Megalixer: Super Mario RPG
At a varied price it is only available at Tadpole Pond. It recovers 150 HP for all party members.

Metal Cap: Super Mario 64
Put in Green boxes. While wearing this, you're invincible and you destroy all enemies in your path. Plus, you sink underwater

Message Block: Super Mario World

Mid Mushroom: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 80 HP for one person.

Minus Block: Mario Party
Appears at random on the board after you buy it. The player loses the amount of coins shown on the block after they hit it.

Moldy Mush: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 5 HP for one person.

Muku Cookie: Super Mario RPG
After Yoshi eats a Mukumuku, you get a Muku Cookie from it. Gets back 69 HP and heals any magic you've suffered.

Mushroom(1): Super Mario Bros. 2(Western), Super Mario Advance
Gives you an extra Small Heart container and restores all your Small Hearts.

Mushroom(2): Super Mario Land 2
Changes Mario into Super Mario.

Mushroom(3): Super Mario RPG
Recovers 30 HP for one person.

Mushroom(4): Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 10 coins. On your next turn, you can roll 2 dice blocks instead of one, for a possible total of 20 spaces.

Mushroom(5): Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Use this to give your kart a boost of speed.

Mushroom(6): Paper Mario
Find it or buy it. Recovers 5 HP.

Mushroom Block: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western), Super Mario Advance
These blocks won't ever dissappear.

Mystery Egg: Super Mario RPG
Use it ten times with Peach wearing her B'tubb Ring, and it will turn into the Lamb's Lure. Does nothing until then.

Revives someone and 1/2 their HP.

Plunder Chest: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 15 coins. Allows you to steal an item from another player if they have one.

Poison Mushroom: Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Mario Party 3
In SMB2, this is a mushroom that hurts you. In Mario Party 3, use it to restrict a player to only moving no more than three spaces on their next turn.

Pow: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western)
Pick up this and throw it to automatically defeat every enemy on the screen.

Pow Block(1): Mario Bros., Super Smash Brothers, Super Mario Advance
When you hit this block, everyone goes flying.

Pow Block(2): Paper Mario
Does 2 damage to every enemy on the screen.

Power Blast: Super Mario RPG
Brings your party's attack up.

Power Bounce: Paper Mario
Allows you to use an attack called "Power Bounce" that attacks enemies repeatedly. Requires 3 FP and 2 BP.

Power Jump: Paper Mario
Allows you to use an attack called "Power Jump" that does up to 4 damage to a single enemy. Requires 2 FP and 1 BP.

Plus Block: Mario Party
Appears at random on the board after you buy it. A player gains the amount of coins shown on the block after they hit it.

Pure Water: Super Mario RPG
Does away a ghost in a flash.

Q

Quake Hammer: Paper Mario
Allows you to use an attack called "Quake Hammer" that repeatedly damages enemies on the ground. Requires 2 FP and 1 BP.

Red Essence: Super Mario RPG
You can't be hurt for three turns.

Red Shell: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Homes in on other players and crashes them(Mario Kart) or damages them(SSB). In Mario Kart 64 and MKSC, it can be shot backwards.

Refund: Paper Mario
Gives you coins every time you use an item. Requires 1 BP.

Reverse Mushroom: Mario Party 3
Use this and make someone have to go back the number of spaces on the dice block.

Rock Candy: Super Mario RPG
Does 200 damage.

Rotten Mush: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 5 HP for one person.

Royal Syrup: Super Mario RPG
Recovers all FP.

Second-Degree Card: Paper Mario
Proof of Mario's strength. Get it by defeating Lee at the Toad Town Dojo.

See Ya: Super Mario RPG
Indespensible. Allows you to escape minor battles.

Sheep Attack: Super Mario RPG
After Lamb's Lure goes after 48 baddies, it will turn into the Sheep Attack. It does what Lamb's Lure did, but on all enemies.

Shiny Stone: Super Mario RPG
Give the mole girl in the pretend shop one set of Fireworks, and she'll fork this over. Open the door to Culex in Monstro Town with it, or give it to a child in the shop for a Carbo Cookie.

Shooting Star: Paper Mario
Use it in battle and a bunch of shooting stars fall down from the sky and damage all enemies.

Skeleton Key: Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
Buy it for 10 coins. Allows you to open doors on the board that are otherwise locked.

Sky Pop(Airplane): Super Mario Land
You fly in a plane in 4-3.

Sleepy Bomb: Super Mario RPG
Puts an opponent to sleep.

Sleepy Sheep: Paper Mario
Puts some enemies to sleep for a few turns so they can't attack.

Slow Block: Mario Party
Appears at random on the board after you buy it. A block with which you can only move 1 to 3 spaces.

Small Heart: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western)
Gain an extra one by getting a Mushroom. When you kill enough enemies, one will float by. Get it to refill one Small Heart on your meter.

Speed Block: Mario Party
Appears at random on the board after you buy it. A block with which you can only move 8 to 10 spaces.

Spiny Shell: Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Shoot this and it goes after the person in first place, crashing everyone who's in its way.

Star Egg: Super Mario RPG
Pounds at least 100 damage on all enemies. Play "Look Away" in Grate Guy's Casino 100 times.

Star Piece: Paper Mario
Get them for doing certain things, or simply find them. Once you have enough, you can buy rare things.

Stop Watch: Super Mario Bros. 2(Western)
When you pick up your tenth big vegetable, a Stop Watch will appear and make all the enemies everywhere stop for a limited amount o' time.

Super Mushroom(1): Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2(Japanese), Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World
Changes Mario into Super Mario.

Super Mushroom(2): Mario Kart 64
For ten seconds, you can boost your speed as many times as you want.

Super Star: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
You will be invincible fopr a limited time. Your speed will be higher and you can go through obstacles, like Banana Peels, without crashing. Run into other racers to make them crash.

Tanooki Suit: Super Mario Bros. 3
Tanooki Mario is just like Racoon Mario, except that by pressing down and B(on the NES, Y on the SNES) you can turn into a statue that can't get hurt.

Thunderbolt(1): Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Very rare. Use this to shrink all racers but you. Shrunken karts have a slower speed and can be flattened.

Thunderbolt(2): Paper Mario
Use this in battle to attack all enemies on the screen.

Triangular Block: Super Mario World
Mario and Luigi can run up this once they are at top speed to run up the sides of vertical objects, or Yoshi can use it to give him a super leap.

Triple Green Shell: Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Three Green Shells form a protective barrier around you. Shoot them or crash into other racers.

Triple Mushroom: Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Gives you three speed boosts. In MKSC, can only be found in Time Trial.

Triple Red Shell: Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Three Red Shells form a protective barrier around you. Shoot them or crash into other racers.

Vanish Cap: Super Mario 64
Put in blue boxes. Wearing this will make you invincible.

Volt Shroom: Paper Mario
Electrifies Mario for a short while so he damages any enemy he touches.

W

Wacky Watch: Mario Party 3
Use it to bring to game down to only 5 turns left.

Wallet: Super Mario RPG
You'll get this from Croco. When you get back to the Shysters' Mushroom Kingdom, give this to the guy at the south o' the little drop down.

Recovers 5 HP for one person.

Wing Cap: Super Mario 64
Put in Red boxes. Jump three times in a row to set off flying.

Yellow Coin: Super Mario 64
Recovers 1 in your power meter and is worth 1 coin.

Yoshi-Ade: Super Mario RPG
From Yo'Ster Island, it doubles your offense and defense.

Yoshi Candy: Super Mario RPG
Recovers 100 HP for one person.

Yoshi Cookie: Super Mario RPG
Calls on Yoshi to eat enemies. If it can't be eaten, Yoshi will give you an item.
