I'm doing a survey for my Mario Brothers site, and I figured this would definetly be a good stop. Fight and bicker as much as you want, although I fail to see how one could on such an open and individual topic. Even if you have the same opinion as someone who posted before you, post yours--say it in your own way this time. Please do not refrain from posting pictures, links, or anything else. Posts can be as long or as short as you feel they should be. Begin!

They starred in the first real adventure game that was advertised and a majority of people actually liked. The creator was ingenious and since so many new adventures are created, it never gets boring.

These brothers have revelutionized the video game industry. They starred in the first side-scroller which changed video games forever. They are indeed very special.

They are very popular. They hang together like Salt and Pepper, Peanut Butter and Jelly, ic cream and cake, and some unfamiliar stuff, to unreconized stuff, Which People seem to liked. So Then they decided to make more of Mario and Luigi. Luigi started a big popularity rise when he gained a girlfriend and a rival. That made Luigi stand away from Mario but they stood up for each other and that made their bond special. Mario, afraid that he will lose it all when Luigi becomes a star in his own game, then realizes that Luigi will stick up for him the way he stood up for him.

What can I say? Super Mario Bros. was THE first video game I ever played.

Maybe it's the kooky moustaches, the goofy caps, the overalls.... who knows?

They fight against incredible odds and end up hearing a lame response like "I'm sorry, but the princess is in another castle". That could defer the best of heroes, but not the Mario Bros.
I'm also similar to Luigi in appearance, but that's not too important.

It's the heart of the games. Besides their incredible jumping ability and resourcefullness, the Mario Bros. are two average plumbers from Brooklyn. Not caped wonders or men of steel, just ordinary guys who got caught up in something they never expected.

They're just so playable. The earlier games just had two buttons (three, if you want to pause) and the D-pad, and they hooked us then-young kids to play Nintendo.

It's hard to say what makes the Mario Brothers so special. Or it is in my case, anyway, despite the fact that they're my favorite characters. It could be for several different reasons. Many of us are nostalgic about Mario and Luigi's exploits, and many of us also just think they're cool. With me, I guess there are several different reasons. I love their similar yet different outfits and appearances, their enormous mustaches, their character personalities, the way they behave, the causes they fight for, and on and on to about a hundred other things. With me, Mario and Luigi have always been the coolest video game characters around.

I think the thing that makes the Mario Bros. special is that they're very popular, have unique gameplay, and are generally the face of Nintendo, or even video games in general.

Mario, Mario, Mario!

Besides, he and Donkey Kong saved the video game industry. No Mario. No video games.

What makes Mario and Luigi special, you ask? This is a question is old as video games itself.

Mario's first game disgusted the game testers. One person even quit his job. This game was "Donkey Kong." Instead of shooting aliens and monsters, the main character is saving a girl from a gorilla who tosses barrels at you. Was Mario special? Not then. But despite the reaction from the testers, it became a hit.

Mario and Luigi then made a smash hit: Super Mario Bros. A totally different game, it was one of the first games many gamers of today played. And it was one of the best of it's time, with good reason too. Super Mario Bros. was one of the most well-made games in it's time.

Since then, Mario and Luigi and a host of characters have starred in over 100 games (although I'm not counting). Why? Besides the fact that Mario is Nintendo's mascot, the Mario franchise has drawn in millions of dollars for Nintendo because everyone likes their games. Maybe it's because they're cool. Maybe it's because they're special. Maybe it's because Mario and Luigi were two of our first heroes in our lives.

So what actually makes Mario and Luigi special? I don't know.

<Did I just post a bunch of drivel?>

I think MARIOofSTEEL Can't Take His Cap Off
is right if there was no Mario and Donkey Kong there would be no video games still being made and without Mario there would no Gamecube, and would you like that?

Another reason could be that people like heroes. People as a whole love to see stories about good triumphing over evil. We like to watch movies where the bad guys get thrown off of buildings, and we like to play games where the bad guys get torched, blown up, stomped, etc. And with me, Mario and Luigi have always been a couple of heroes who embodied the fight against evil. They're the clean-cut, merciful crusaders who would never hesitate to help someone in need. Like I said, people like heroes.

Actually, just once, I'd like to play a game where you play as the villain and have to beat the hero. I guess it's just part of my naturally evil and devious nature

I think the Mario Brothers are special because they remind me of my brother and me. I'm skinny, he's fat, we're both cool like the mario brothers and we both have a little Italian blood in us.
